When I take on a Commissioned Portrait, I ask the client to send me good clear photographs by post or email for me to work from, if the client would like help in what kind of Portrait they would like, I can study their Photographs and get ideas about what media would be best suited to that subject matter and at this point, take the opportunity to discuss ideas with them.
Several photographs can be used to produce a Portrait when wanting multiple subjects.

Below is an example of a Portrait:

The Photograph

Usually scanned in and worked on in Photoshop, changing the brightness and contrast and also sharpening up the Photograph in necessary ready to work from, sometimes eliminating any background distractions.

The Finished Portrait

This Portrait was done using Chalk Pastels and Pastel Pencils for the finer details.

This piece was a joy to do, as soon as I touched the paper the whole thing just flowed so easy from start to finish.

The End Product

Once the Portrait is finished I take it with me and visit the Framer where I decide what type of frame best suits the subject, I also pick out an appropriate colour mounting card to surround the picture inside the frame which compliments the shadows and the tones of the subject, bringing them forward to the eye.

I have built this Web site to display my work so that people from all walks of life will be able to see, this was a real challenge but most enjoyable to do and it is great to be able to go and visit your own work at a virtual gallery knowing others are seeing it too.
I hope you will enjoy looking through the site and will want to come back again.
