Who am I?...….

Highly qualified and motivated professional of 30+ years.

An English Artist with an eye for attention to detail, making every portrait come alive with it’s photo realistic style.

I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil, I have always felt it was a gift I was born with and have always pursued it with much passion. In 1993 I went to live in the Netherlands to work in boarding kennels where I decided to start drawing dogs, I attended many dog shows growing up and on returning back to the UK I started doing dog shows with a small stall to show my artwork and take commissions, 30 years on and my style has evolved into highly realistic and detailed artwork that takes many hours to create, it is vibrant and alive with a 3D appearance so that the subjects look as though they might jump off the page, bringing much emotion in each and every memorial piece.

Here I am beginning at the top of the subject to work my way down, working in the base layers using various coloured pencils

This portrait is about 90% finished, I still have work to do on it until I can finally call it done.

Work In Progress

Working my way down I then concentrate on the eye, the 'eye's' are the most important part because the should is seen through the eye's, the character and personality, so get the eye's right and you've 'nailed it'

All the time building up the layers to build depth and vibrancy, this is what gives life to a piece, a photograph is 2D and very flat but a portrait in Art is 3D, vibrant and alive!
